Pinwheel Gardens
The Salem Exchange Club hosts its annual Pinwheel Garden Project in April to bring awareness to Child Abuse Prevention Month. We invite you to join the cause by displaying a pinwheel garden outside your home or business, consisting of a yard sign and 24 pinwheels provided free of charge.
Donations are greatly appreciated to help offset the costs and support child abuse prevention efforts in the community. Donations may be made to Salem Exchange Club, PO Box 145, Salem, NH 03079.

Goal of the Campaign
The National Exchange Club officially adopted the prevention of child abuse as its National Project in 1979. Since then, the Salem Exchange Club has remained committed to increasing awareness of child abuse and taking action to prevent it. In 2021, the club began hosting its annual Pinwheel Garden Project in April to bring awareness to Child Abuse Prevention Month. The initiative started with 17 pinwheel gardens and has grown to over 100 and counting!
Symbolization of Pinwheels
The blue pinwheel was officially adopted as the national symbol for child abuse prevention by Prevent Child Abuse America in 2008. The pinwheel is intended to represent the whimsical nature of childhood, the joy and innocence that every child deserves, and the hope for a bright future. It serves as a visual reminder of the importance of child abuse prevention and encourages individuals and organizations to take action.
